Awhile back, the Catless CatLady tagged me with a photo meme. I'm always looking for an easy post, so why not?
The instructions (yes, I do follow them occasionally) indicated to pick the tenth photo in your first photo folder and post it.
My computer is full of photos of Cat and Evil Twin (and a few of Hubby) so imagine my surprise when I encountered this photo:
This gem is from our trip to the Maine coast last fall. We took an excursion across the drink to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. The only form of transportation we had once the ferry dropped us off was our own two feet. We picked up a map for a walking tour and hit the pavement.
There were numerous older homes that had received facelifts (and hopefully new innards) and were restored to period architecture. The variety of "periods" represented was amazing. The influence is traced back to sea captains that settled in Yarmouth after traveling all over the world.
This one reminded me of Hansel and Gretel for some reason. I also thought it belonged in the board game CandyLand.
Tag, your it (no obligation, of course)!

That's a lovely picture. :) And it sounds like you had a wonderful time.
I'm going to have to see what my tenth photo in my first photo folder is. If it's a dirty one, I'm not posting it.
OMG! I see Evil Twin in that triangle window on the third floor! I believe she is flipping the bird...or giving the peace sign with one finger.
@Ziva - It was a great trip. I dare you to post #10.
@Deb - Dang. I can't put anything past you. I'm sure she is trying to get your attention to go and let her out.
What a gorgeous thing of an abode! I just want to live in it, or eat it, or something. :)

Wow. That is a REALLY cool looking house!
LOL! I think of Hansel and Gretel too! What a beautiful house, and a great pic. I'll have to come and visit there sometime. Cool post!
@Margaret - Yeah, it might be banana-flavored!
@meleah - I would love to see the inside.
@Tgoette - Thanks. I would to tour all of Nova Scotia!
Gingerbread and Candyland..that house looks good enough to eat for sure!! Gorgeous!
What a cute little house! I agree...looks straight out of Hansel and Gretel.
mmmm... candyland...
@Mrsblogalot - Yummy for our tummies!
@Jacki - Be careful of what is offered to you in this house.
@Nooter - Candy is bad for you, Nooter.
What a cool house! It's almost church-like, but it defies categorization architecturally. I'd like to live there, I think. Depends on what the owners are like. If they're picky about me habit of staying up until 2 a.m. watching television, then screw it, I'm not going.
Did you call me?
Love that shot! I would love to summer here, so quaint.
@Mike - Yeah, I think the builder must have used what he liked from several different styles.
You want to make sure they have TV there first. ;-)
@Meme - Ha! And you answered! Yeah, summer, not winter.
With my background in construction and architecture, I love that stately building, nice photo.
Erm, I'd play your little tag game, but - well, I'd have to be dishonest about it, cuz I checked my pics and number ten, well ... not appropriate. (wink)
Hey, 60 year old men still enjoy a little eye candy, hmm? And no, it's not THAT bad - sheesh, you would to there!
The Old Silly
Oh what a beautiful house. And I especially love the color...my house is the same color, only the roof is brown. Were all the houses that pretty? I'd love to see more photos.
It is funny you said it reminds you to Hansel and Gretel, because that was the same impression I got.

Very cool photo. I love the shadows. I could write a story about the house. It's so evocative. In addition to humor, I also like to write dark fiction.
@Marvin - Thanks. Now, now. This is a family blog......but now I'm curious.
@Leeuna - Yes, that house was nicer up close and yes, there were quite a few more restored homes in the area. I wish I had taken more photos.
@Laura - I'd be afraid to ask to see the oven.
@Lauren - Thanks. Hum...dark fiction? Um.....Evil Twin would be thrilled.

Looks like it could be a great haunted house!
You know, that house does look like it belongs in the game Candy Land, especially if you've ever seen the computer version of the game! My kid has the game and it sure looks like it belongs there!
@otin - I can't quite picture Halloween decorations on that house.
@Skye - It's so sweet I could eat it!
It does have a Hanzelesque feel to it, doesn't it? I'd still live in it.
Awesome home... and nice yard! Those Canucks have good taste. ;)
@Ivy - Yeah. I'd take that house in a heartbeat.
@Maureen - Yeah, they do, don't they? ;-)
Hey Reffie - I called you out today in class on my blog for throwing spitballs again. You're this close to going to the principal's office, young lady! (wink)
The Old Silly
So sorry you got tagged, I always dread those.
What's this about spitballs?
@Marvin - It wasn't me. It wasn't me!
@Sue - Marvin says he caught me throwing spit balls on his blog. I have an alibi.
Awesome home... and nice yard! Those Canucks have good taste. ;)
