Spring Sprung, Skipped, and then Torched Summer

Ok.  Ok.  I know I need to write something.

This is what happens when Evil Twin is bored.  She is bored because I won't let her play with matches outside.  We've been having crazy wind, warm temperatures, and very little rain around here.  I'm afraid she will start a fire and gorgeous hunks with hoses will have to come and put it out.

Oh, wait.

Seriously, we don't want any fires.  There is a big nasty fire west of our metropolitan area.  It has already devoured several homes and is still burning.  Yes, I mean devoured. It started near a lake called Possum Kingdom.

Hum....possums have a kingdom?  Silly me thought the world was ruled by LOL cats that dance with dolphins.  Little did I know that it's those over-sized, sight-challenged rats that are in charge.

Cute alert:  If you haven't seen the video of the cat playing with the dolphin, go to youtube and search for it.  You'll find several versions.    Get you fill of cute and then come back and finish this post.  I promise I won't keep you much longer.

Today I was out running in the sweltering heat with Eternal Flame playing on my Shuffle when several fire engines zoomed down the main road north of my neighborhood.

It gave me the chills.

Too bad it didn't help me stay cool.

Don't get me started of folks throwing cigarette butts out of their car windows....

Ok.  Ok.  Enough.

My kingdom for a possum!

I know, that doesn't sound right.

...My kingdom for a cat and a dolphin!

Much better (-:

Keep Evil Twin away from the lighter fluid.

Over-sized, sight-challenged rats need seeing eye dogs or maybe not. They might not live to see another day.

It's still cold here (50s) but there's no snow! What the hell happened to the sun? It's gloomy gray like Transylvania. Evil Twin would love it. Tell her to bring the hunks with hoses.

They actually issued a wildfire warning over here yesterday, which seems a little crazy considering it's 45 degrees outside and in some places there's still snow on the ground. But I guess I better stop throwing lit matches out of the car window , just to be safe..

Ack. Not to make light of the fires, but I'm gonna. *snarky grin*

Possum Kingdom is also the name of one The Toadies albums!

And I love the title song!

Possum Kingdom.

Do you wanna die?
Do you wanna die?
I will treat you well
My sweet Angel
So help me Jesus!

Yeah, kinda morbid, but I like morbid in small amounts.

@Mrsblogalot - Yes, cats and dolphins. Love them!

@Lauren - Evil Twin to the rescue! Chilly here today. Crazy stuff.

@Ziva - Be careful with those matches.

@Quirky - Toads? Hee Hee. No wonder you like ET so much!

Could be worse. You could have been running in the sleet today here in Maine. It was, known in native Maine-ah speak, a "wicked pissah of a day, ayuh."

How can you keep running in the heat? Stay safe and away from wildfires!

Hey, this:

Today I was out running in the sweltering heat with Eternal Flame playing on my Shuffle when several fire engines zoomed down the main road north of my neighborhood.

looks very familiar. I follow you on Facebook and I think you posted that there too. Are you copying yourself? How dare you! ;)

@Deb - Oh, ick. What a pissah! It's chilly here, now. Oh, yeah. 67 is chilly. :)

@Boom Boom - It's gets to be a very drippy workout. I hope the drizzle we are having helps the fires.

@Unfinished - Pffft. That was a test. You noticed. You get a gold star today. :)

Ooooh, I remember running in Florida when we had a pretty intense summer of wildfires. Everytime I took a breath on the running trail, I thought I was getting black lung! Good times!

Stay safe, my girl!!

I have been hearing of fires raging in TX. Now, you just keep Evil Twin under control, deary. Playing with matches outside in a Texan drought is being a naughty Evil Twin!

But then that's probably exactly what turns her on?

@Jean - Go take your medication, Jean. :)

@Joan - Cough. Cough. Ugh!

@Marvin - I'm trying. She's doing well although she tried to burn my arm by sticking it in the oven.

I hate fires. We have them all the time here in California -- massive ones and they scare the snot out of my. On the other hand, they're a great place to meet fire fighters. ;)

And I love the cat and dolphin video. What a lesson in inter-species love. Humans can't even get it right in their own species.

Here lies Geek.
Died near the creek.
Ran to feel healthy.
Evil twin is now wealthy.

Hey. Sit down.

What to write, what to write? I'm trying to think up something myself. I don't have an Evil Twin so sometimes it gets difficult. Got nothing at the Scary Asian Dry Cleaning Dudes yesterday. What a drag.

Your fires are scary. Of course, your whole state is scary. Still, be careful. You seriously could burn your house down without too much trouble. It's too damn hot and dry these days to live, I swear.

@Jayne - We heard good news that a major fire may be contained TODAY!

@Dana - I'm sitting. Evil Twin is still asleep.

@Sue - It really bites when the Crazy Asian lets you down.

@Mike - Yeah, we're big, mean, crazy, and many of us carry guns.

It's crazy weather here too. All it has done since the beginning of April is rain. Our grass is almost knee high. Bring those hunks here, arm them with machetes. At least that way there will be a path to the door already cut. :)

"1.00s, 1.50s, 1.75s for the short arms. If you know what I'm talking about, you're probably old, too."
