A Creep, a Feast, and a Furry Beast

I stopped by an estate sale on the way to run some errands.  One of the estate worker-bees was sitting down on the couch using the previous occupant's foot massager.  He started flirting with me, admiring my girlish figure (Ahem!) and convincing me I needed to try this contraption.  (Oh yeah.  I was excited to do so after seeing his ugly bare feet on that thing.)

But I did.

I left MY shoes on!

BuzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZ!  It felt nice on my feet for about two seconds then I thought my teeth were about to fall out of my head.  "Gee", he said.  "It's only twelve dollars!"  Yeah, I thought.  As huge and clunky as that thing is, that's about all it's worth.

"No, thanks.  I really don't need anything this big."

He kept jabbering at me.  I jabbered back, telling him I was hoping to find some large containers for my garden.  Finally, he went out and looked for some.

That would have been a good time to run to my car and quickly dash away.

But, no, that's not what I did.  I went outside.  He started jabbering again, asking me how I stay so thin.

Ugh.  Goodbye Creepy.  Got errands to run.

We attended a funeral service for Mark's uncle.  His life was cut short but he died happy and fulfilled.  The ladies at the church had lunch for us after the service.  I noticed a homemade Coconut Chess Pie, got a piece before the minister saw it, and sat down to enjoy.  I was moaning louder with each bite until my sister-in-law told me to stop making those noises.  They are not allowed in the Baptist church.

Hee Hee.

I'm fairly certain the minister was moaning louder.

One of our neighbors was given a stray cat.  Their other cat (the cat in the flower bed in my previous post) would not tolerate it and they called Hubby and me practically begging us to take the beast.

Ahs.  After hearing how friendly, clean, and well-behaved this cat was, we had to go see it.

Yes.  Yes.  It was time.  It is now taking over our household:

I think I must have been a dog in my past life.
I act like one and I have a tail that looks like a poodle tail.
Evil Twin and I will become great friends.

So far, we haven't settled on a name.  We've called him Cat, Lump, Dufus, Goofhead, Oreo, Domino, Stubby, Pinky (big pink ears), and Rex/Wrecks because he acts like a dog and is a bit spastic sometimes!

A neighbor found him.  We think someone turned him out once he grew out of the cute kitten stage or maybe he didn't fit it well with other cats and dogs.

He's such a cute cat. I thought Calico's were female. My cat looks similar to that, except she has freckled markings beneath her whiskers. I'll post a picture of her one of these days.

I guess that's the last estate sale you'll attend for a while. What a creep. Perfect segue into the funeral. It seemed apropos. Sorry for your loss.

@Lauren - Thanks. It was very sad for Mark's cousins and their kids, and his aunt, of course. Totally unexpected but he went peacefully.

Kitty (Oreo) is just a domestic short-hair Tuxedo cat, definitely a male. He's sweet....most of the time. :)

You could name the cat ET2 (Evil Twin 2). Spot? Bat Cat? Dinner?

I will go no where near the moaning minister part.

As for the creepy foot fetish guy...you could have given him a closeup of your foot as it contacts his nose.

How about Fido? Or Spike? Or Quirky? (Dufus is probably demanding she get equal time.)

Quirky? heehee

I've always been partial to Damien myself.

*kill, kill, kill, kill*

Congrats on your new spawn, erm, I mean "baby."

*grin*

My mom picked up a stray they wound up naming it Spare Cat. Since they already had two, this one was extra.

@Deb - ET2? Uh oh. Ministers should not moan.

@Boom Boom - Fido? Haha. It would have to bark first.

@Quirky - This baby is not an evil beast. Sorry to disappoint. :)

@Madge - Spare Cat. I love it!

Congrats on the new kitty edition! I love cats. And I would love to hear a minister moaning. That sounds like some crazy fetish, but really, I just think it would be hilarious. heh

He is adorable! I bet you could call him anything and he'd come running. He looks like an Edward to me.

But doesn't everyone.

@Devon - Thanks. I think we have too many moaning ministers....

@Mrsblogalot - Thanks. Yeah, he's a runner and a jumper and a goofball and too smart for his own good... :)

I like "T-rex". He's cute. Looks very very happy to finally land with people who appreciate him.

Here's the recipe for the awesome pie:
STRAWBERRY-RUBHARB PIE
1 1/2 c sugar
1/4 c flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg
3 c sliced rhubarb
1 c sliced strawberries
crust for 9" pie (I like Pillsbury's)
1 Tbsp butter

Mix first four ingredients together. Mix rhubarb and strawberries together with sugar mixture and let stand for 20 minutes to allow juices to form. Pour all into pie shell; dot with butter. Top with lattice or regular crust with slits cut in center. Brush with milk and sprinkle with small amount of sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Serve with ice cream.
note: Put it on a cookie sheet or something because it can spill over and get me messy. But it's definitely worth it.

This is an 'easy' version -I have another more elaborate one if you aren't in awe of this recipe..

You rescued a cat! Yaaaaaaaaaaay, YOU!! He is just adorable! I vote for the name Rex, he DEFINITELY looks like he's behaving like a dog! I'm sure he and Evil Twin will be fast friends!

I had a table of businessmen flirt with me while I was doing my tour the other night. I confess it's been so long, I almost didn't pick up on it at first. When I did, I think I muttered something like, "Ewwww," and promptly left! That's cool, right?

That cat is definitely a Lord Voldemort type of cat. So cute!

Whatever you do don't let Leeuna name him!
Farvel is a nice name and original. Or you can go with "He who shall remain nameless."

@Wonder Wye - Yum.... Thanks for the recipe. So far, we're still saying Oreo Cookie around new kitty but for some strange reason I am hungry all the time.

@Joan - Yeah, Evil Twin is having a good time training Kitty! The older I get, the older the flirters get. :)

@Ziva - Thanks. He is a cutie and very sweet when he's asleep.

@Sue - Lord V. Yeah, that works. :)

Ok , who got that picture of my legs?

I like snuggles. Nick - snug. I like cats!

Hey Sue, I heard that. Actually don't let leeuna's son name it. Bahahah.

Reffie, congrats on the new cat. He's a cutie pie. Our cat likes Wayne better than me. I think he might be gay -- the cat, not Wayne. :)
