SWISH! It's gone.

Well, I'll be darned.  There went October.  Just like that.  ZOOM!  SWISH!    It went faster than that first bag of Halloween candy you bought a few weeks before Halloween.

October brought us cold and then back to hot and finished with that dang Frankenstorm in the northeast.  Ugh.  Even Evil Twin is feeling sad for those that have experienced loss due to that monstrous beast.

I ran a 10-mile race and won 1st place in my age group.  Ahem.  I have to say that most of the fast people in my age group did not show up for the race.

Scarecrow does a nice job showing off my medal!

If you squint, you can see it says 1ST PLACE!

October was a great month for reading blog posts, especially if you like looking at photos.  There was an awesome photo meme (see Ziva's sidebar) that took place on days 1 - 30.  Oreo Cat and Evil Twin kept begging me to participate.  I took some photos and I've finally relented and decided to post some of our favorites:

VIBRATE:    I wish I could blame the cat for this blurry sunset:

KAFKAESQUE and STALKER:  This guy is hopelessly hanging around teasing the cat.

SHINY:  Cat must think this is a snake, a sparkly slithering snake, because every time I put it on the end table, he knocks it off and bats it around for awhile.

CALM and RULES:  This is Cat's favorite because he thinks he reigns over us.  I like it because it reflects one of the few quiet moments we get around here.

I hope October treated you well.  Bring on November.  Maybe I'll post again before the month is over.

I'm so glad you posted for the 30 DOP3 challenge! You posted one day in a row & dang that's something.

That medal is the most creative I've ever seen for a mid-distance race. Most races around here don't give anything quite as nice as this bling. Even the 1/2 marathons have some pretty plain and ordinary medals. Wear it with pride and for the love of all that's sacred about running, keep it away from Cat.

Dang, I come back and see that word again... it's everywhere! kafkaesque. I need to google it!

And boy does Oreo look happy. And congrats with running medal!

@Cheryl - We have some great races down here! This one was part of a "Disco" series. The finisher's medal was a larger version of the disco guy. Yes, Cat would shred that ribbon in no time!

@Quirky - Thanks! It's so nice to see your pretty face 'round these parts again. Cat was very worried and Evil Twin was contacting the Underworld for hints on your whereabouts!

The months do seem to go faster and faster. I thought it was just me.

Congrats on the win! Who cares who showed up or not - YOU WERE FIRST PLACE! Whoo hoo!

Well, I guess if you were out running your ass off, it's a good excuse for not participating every day in 30DOP3. Well done, Reffie! And I'm so happy Evil Twin didn't trip you up in the race. First place rocks!

Congratulations on first place win. Nice medal. I love all your photos. The blurry sunset looks like fire. Sometimes the "mistakey" ones come out even prettier. And where DID October go? In fact where has this whole year gone? I can't believe it'll be 2013 in less than 2 months.

@CLR - Thanks and yeah, that's right!

@Paula - Thanks. I enjoyed seeing all of your photographs!

@leeuna - Thanks. I kind of like the blurry sunset! Wait. 2013? No, no, no. I'm not ready.

Obeying your prompt under "Leave your comment," one way to reform and get rich is post to your blog more often than you do. You're a funny lady. I, for one, miss seeing more of you...well, you know what I mean. ;)

@Unfinished - Thanks. Sigh. I obviously need to work on my funny and start typing!

@Ziva - Thanks. I just couldn't resist. October went slow for you, huh? :)

@Lauren - Thanks and YIKES! Dang that Sandy. I'm sorry you lost power. Glad you are back.

Thank goodness October is over, but it didn't feel like a whoosh to me. It felt like, ughhh... another prompt?

Congrats on the first place (age group) finish! That's awesome but you really should let us all believe you are like lightning. I already believe that!

I'm averaging one post a month too. Just terrible. I wanted to beat last years post count but it's looking grim. And I'm lazy. ;-)

Yeah, losing three months was a bummer, especially since fall is my fave season and the best time to live in AR. Oh well, next year. At least I had a 'pass' for Thanksgiving dinner...not sure where we'll land but I am still not cooking. Congrats on the first place medal. Awesome.

First place, you say? Hardly a surprise. A young "fit as a fiddle" person, you. Well done.

And the cats. O, my. The cats! What would we ever do without the notes of those self-absorbed felines?

Blessings and Bear hugs.
