It's been an exciting week here in Geekville. Our very own Texas Rangers are finally going to the World Series. For those of you that are professional sports challenged, I'm talking about BASEBALL, the game where guys try to whack a round thing with a stick, run around in circles when they do, and when they stop running, they make adjustments to their protective undergarments.
Seriously, it can be loads of fun, and even more fun when your local team WINS!
I credit part of this success to me, Hubby, and our friends NOT attending the playoff games as they lost every playoff game we attended. Some credit also goes to none other than Bicentennial Mouse:
Yes, Ms. Mouse has been around since 1776 1976 and is still going strong. She wears her cap well, don't you think?
She has been hogging her seat in front of the tele for about a week using rally towels (hand towels with the team colors handed out at the playoff games) as bibs and eating us out of house and mouse. She is enjoying our cat-free environment although Evil Twin has been slinking around hissing at her.
Ms. Mouse will stay in place through the World Series, silently cheering for another first for the Texas Rangers.
I'm not so sure Ms. Mouse is as innocent as she seems. I've noticed a few beers missing form the garage fridge....and there are some mouse turds near the door. Hum.... is that candy corn in those turds?
Ew.
In other news, we are having new water pipes installed in our neighborhood. Basically, this is because our city wants to "improve our infrastructure" and have the opportunity to accept our hard-earned money each month instead of us paying a neighboring city for water service.
Yeah, thanks, City. We won't be excited about the price increase, either.
It's a mess and yesterday the excitement was a blue pipe went walk-about and crashed into a brick wall, a bulldozer nearly ran my friend off the road twice, and an extremely accident-prone neighbor fell into one of the pits.
Oops. He wasn't injured and fortunately, neither was the pit or the concrete.
I think the neon-vested worker bees were hitting the beer thermos during their lunch break.
Tune in next time for more exciting and/or treacherous events here in Geekville.

Wow! The Texas Rangers to the World Series?
Wow.
And I am most impressed with the mouse. She knows how to operate a remote control?
More power to her. I still can't figure out more than half the buttons on my remote.
*grin*
Okay, as you may recall, I am a lifelong Yankee fan so I felt compelled to comment here. Despite my love for the Bronx Bombers, I have no choice but to admit that the Rangers flat out kicked our asses all over Texas AND New York. Except for one lucky inning, the series would've been over in four games. I'm kinda pulling for Texas now, and I'm especially going to pay attention to Cliff Lee. Because, as everyone knows, he's going to be a Yankee next season.
awwwww improving that infrastructure is going to make Obamma so very happy.
nice mouse
oh yeah, your package should be arriving any day now
...that's what she said
Yay, Rangers!
But wait.... a pit that I DIDN'T fall into? How can that be? (Good thing I'm not visiting your neighborhood in the near future!)
@Quirky - Mouse is a smartass......er...smart mouse.
@Chris - Go Rangers.
@Jean - Thanks. I don't think Obama, Jesus, or anybody but my city really cares about the new infrastructure. ;-)
Great news about the package!
@Boom Boom - Yes, you didn't fall into it! Yea! You can visit after the work is finished.
I'm so glad you guys beat the Yankees, I'm just giddy! I hate the Yankees.
Now to the serious matter at hand. You know by reading my blog that the "new water pipes" are just cover for the underground bunkers. Consider yourself lucky and start stocking up on canned goods, guns and ammo. You are one of the select few neighborhoods to be under going this secret government cover up. If you choose not to publish this comment I will completely understand, there are a limited amount of seats available and you might want to keep the under wraps.
You need to park yourself in front of the action (city workers pretending to know what they are doing) with your camera and your laptop so you can blog live! Neighbors in ditches! Wayward pipes! Adjustments to protective undergarments! Hey, I've seen those city workers "adjusting" while they all stand around watching one guy do the work.
The mouse is definitely related to Evil Twin. They have the same whiskers.
I watched the Ranger beat the (despicable) Yankees with my brother (from Dallas Texas)the other night when he was in Michigan with me at our Mom's house.
Hip-hip----Hooray!
Glad you 'piped up' wih this post, Reffie!
@Sue - Yeah, the neighbors are all getting bunkers......I'm not sure why. They must know something I don't know. ;-)
@Deb - It's either adjusting or plumber's crack. Evil Twin says her whiskers are much prettier than Mouse's whiskers. Sheesh.
@Marvin - That was one exciting game! I'm hopeful for a great Series, free of pipes, of course.
life sounds good for reffie. her friends and neighbors? not so much. but at least they have you...not to mention mouse. lucky. :)
Go sports team, Go!
I am happy that the Rangers are in the World Series!
And, seriously, how does someone fall in that hole? Isn't it big enough already?
WE are so HAPPY for your Texas Rangers!!!!
@mama-face - Mouse was a quiet observer to all the madness.
@Jacki - GO RANGERS! This neighbor is one of the most accident-prone folks you'll ever know.
@Georgie - We are very excited
Congrats on your team's victory. I live in CT and should have been paying attention but kind of missed the whole thing. Baseball doesn't really interest me, but the bulldozer mishap got my attention.
Sorry I've been absent for a while, but maybe it helped the Rangers win, huh? I'm not sure who to root for this year, the Rangers or the Giants. I'm torn between you and Linda over at The Good, The Bad and The Worse, as that's her team. Maybe I can alternate innings or something.....
That mouse has awesome eyelashes.
Even here in California, I'm rooting for the Rangers to WIN!!
(And that's a big mouse.)
@Mike - Go Rangers!
@Ziva - I wish I had lashes like that!
@Marissa - Thank you for rooting for us! Yes, that's a big mouse. I hope I never see alive...or dead one that size.
That looks like an awfully comfy chair to give over to a stuffed mascot.
I'm sorry about the Rangers. I'm a Cliff Lee fan and had high hopes.
Sorry you guys ran out of steam after demolishing us Yanks. Seriously: if a team completely outplays you, it makes sense to hope they win so you were beaten by the best.
