Geek Girl Eats Weight in Cruise Ship

Howdy! I'm back and yes, my clothes feel a bit tighter today. We were surprised the ship was able to sail back from Mexico considering how much we ate over the last five days. Hubby enjoyed over five days of not having to yell, kick, or scream at the cat and I got to go to the beach! It doesn't get much better than that!

But that's not what this post is about.

Don't worry. There will be a post about our cruise ship and port of call antics coming soon. Here's something to tide you over. Hubby and I got a little silly with the cute little animals our Stateroom Attendant made for us:

If you guessed it was a monkey with a treat, riding an elephant guzzling a specialty drink, you would be right.

When we returned home this afternoon, we were greeted not only by GORGEOUS weather but by a special treat in our mailbox. No, we didn't have dog doo in our mail box although I did notice an increase in animal tracks near the mailbox. Hum.....

OK. I'll get back to the treat:

Yum! Yum! Yum! Skye sent me this granola all the way from Canada as a prize for winning her "name Skye's granola" contest. I plan on it disappearing soon. Thanks, Skye!

Oh, wait. Maybe I should hide it. Hubby just reminded me that the diet starts tomorrow.

What? You expected Cat to greet us and show excitement when we arrived? Um, no. He's outside looking for leftovers from meals caught by younger, faster cats.

I was also rewarded with another special treat. My pink rose bush exploded in giant blooms while we were gone. All I can say is WOW!

Now I have to get back to unpacking, laundry, and reading some of your posts. I will post an "Amateur Antics" cruise post soon.

Very much looking forward to reading about your antics. I loooove Mexico, hate Winter and tolerate towel origami, so I'm ready to hear the details. (well, not the... ahem... details; you know what I mean.

Welcome back! Looking forward to hearing more about your trip, drunken towel animals and all!

Bloom?
WHERE are you again? Holy cow.

And the ship had no problem because they just moved the weight around. Before it was in the refrigerator, now its on the passengers. No net gain or loss. :)

Welcome home! Are you sure that wasn't pornogami? I don't think that's an elephant, no siree.

ReformingGeek said...

@Kablooey - Yeah. The details would put you to sleep.

@Catlady - I hope it gets more exciting than those towels!

@Meadowlark - Texas has had a lot of rain this fall! I think the ship got heavier because of all the liquor we brought back.

@Deb - Thanks. Dang. You're on to me, again. You should have seen what the dog did.

You're most welcome for the treats! I was actually wondering if you'd actually get them. When I mailed them off I was told that the dried fruit may not make approval at customs, but I'm glad it did!

Can't wait to hear more about your trip. I've always wanted to go on a cruise, but never been able to. Now I can "go" on one vicariously through you :)

By the way, your rose looks absolutely BEAUTIFUL!

@mama-face - Thanks. I have some serious catching up to do!

@honeypie - Hum....postage to Germany could possibly be the problem.....

@Skye - Thanks. I have several more blooms that large.

You should go on a cruise but maybe you shouldn't read my antics. ;-)

Hola RG,

I can't wait to hear about the antics!!

The rose looks great..mine would have died, I am not blessed with a green thumb of any sort. And the cats no matter how long I'm away never seen excited to see me...losers!

I didn't know I had such a discerning eye for napkin sculpture. I could totally tell that was a monkey riding an elephant.

So, you make a towel elephant doing some obscene act and you get granola?? I got nothing, I tell ya! LOL!

ReformingGeek said...

@Chaotic - Thanks. The cat is now acting like he missed us.

@tattytiara - Of course. It's obvious!

@otin - What? You have large toys (construction equipment)!

Wow, sounds as if you had a great time. I've never taken a cruise, but have my towels made into animals would certainly be worth the trip.

Your rose photo is loverly.

Welcome back!

Welcome back! Glad you had a good time.
Even though we have had a few nights of temps in the 30's, my wild roses continue to bloom & my mums are finally coming to life! Your roses are beautiful.
Can't wait to hear about your antics!

I’m impressed that you managed to put on weight, our cruise experience was a little less successful in the eating department - How to almost starve to death on a Cruise liner, with a 24 hour all you can eat policy

ReformingGeek said...

@Me-Me - Thanks!

@Wye - Thanks. I think it's just the rain we got during October!

@BlackLOG - Oops. Only you, Dude, only you, could starve on a cruise ship. ;-)

Um looks more like those towels are trying to make little face cloths to me....

I have never been on a cruise but would love to. I have a question. Di they charge that much for cruises because they make their purser's or whatever learn towel origami? I would rather get straight towels and pay less.

ReformingGeek said...

@Maureen - Oops.

@etta - Um, yeah. I'm sure that is the reason they are expensive. That and the 2.5 to 1 crew to passenger ratio. We did get straight towels hanging in the bathroom. ;-) I guess they have a lot of laundry on those ships! Cruises are fun. I prefer the larger ships as there is more space to move around and usually more choices of onboard activities.

that towel animal orgy thing was too much

don't act like it was an accident
