A Dusting of Snow with a Side of Flamboyant Ice

Dear Mother Nature,
I am writing to you again because you obviously did not understand my expression of frustration in my last letter.  Thanks a bunch for bringing another dusting of snow here in Texas.  Now I have powdered-sugared weeds.

Your last dump broke my pine tree's arm.

You should be ashamed of yourself.  People think of Texas as a warm place with all of our salsas and spicy foods.  You are misleading them.  I think you and Climate Change must be sleeping together.

Signed,
Frozen Geek

Fortunately I think this latest dusting will be gone before I finish this post.

Hang on a sec.  Let me check.

...

Yep.  All gone.

Saturday is the Cowtown running event in Fort Worth.  I'm running the half-marathon again this year.  I will need all of your positive thoughts and remote cheers even if it sounds like a snore as I'm sure some of you will not even be thinking about opening an eyeball that early in the morning.

We have a chance for more wintry mix ick later this week and Saturday morning, the day of the race, is supposed to be 30 degrees.    BRRRR! They say we may have sunshine and I will be VERY HAPPY to see that.  Last year it was 28 degrees and cloudy, with gusty winds.    Yeah, three raspberries and a snot wad for you, Mother Nature!

Hubby and I have been watching the Olympics.  Hubby thought the Russian "Curlers" were hot.  I'm thinking Bode and Apollo are looking pretty good in their tight pants events.  We loved the new Ski Cross event and laughed ourselves silly at some of the skating costumes.  What are these people thinking?  Don't they know they are blog fodder?

 Dude, um,um.....
What-the-When-Hell-Freezes-Over are you wearing and your hair?
AAAAAAAAHHHHHG!

Oh, please.  They are from France.  Don't EVEN try.
Although.....can I try those boots on Sweetie?

HAAAA!! What the hell was that in his hair???? I thought he was flashing us the marijuana international symbol of peace.

Good luck on Saturday. I am looking outside right now at a blizzard. Unbelievable.

Sadly, I haven't had anytime to watch the Olympics.

I wish you the best running the half marathon! That's impressive.

And, I cant take one more snow flake!

Maybe they should have held the winter olympics in Texas? Seems like that is where the snow is at!

More snow?

Yikes!

Is Texas now hell? You know as in the saying, When hell freezes over? Has that actually happened down in Texas?

And amen and amen to the strange costumes.

AND... you're going to run in the snow? Ay caramba! I'll be snoring for you while you run!

Go Reffie go!
Watch Reffie run!
Watch Reffie fall!
On her bum, bum, bum!

Yes, I'm a poet at heart.

@Mrsblogalot - Thanks. He was definitely laughable! I'm sorry about your blizzard. ICK!

@Meleah - I hope you can find time to watch the Olympics! Thanks for the best wishes. I will need them.

@Otin - One small problem: No ski hills! I guess they could build them, though.

@Quirky - You and your poems. I really dont want to be on my bum. Ouchie!

I think Texas was replaced with several Maines.

Thank you for snoring for me this coming Saturday. I will appreciate it!

Good luck with your half-marathon! I ran my first one a little over a year ago and it was really a great feeling of accomplishment! Hope you have good (warm!) weather!

LOVE the ice dancing costumes! I NEED those red boot ice skates!!!

Are you going to wear one of those skating costumes in the half-marathon? Did you see Johnny Weir's painted on brown suit with the hot pink laces? Tres gay.

Nooter said...

what kinda costume are you gonna wear in your event? i hear coke-head and hep-c are still available, in case you were wondering.

Good luck in your event. Hey, maybe they'll turn it into a biathlon (does that word have an "a" in it?; too lazy to check). You could cross-country ski, then shoot something. BBQ afterwards. On Saturday morning, I'll be in spinning class, which is lame compared to what you're doing, but fairly impressive for me. Yet, sadly, no one cheers.

Mother nature needs to fire her delivery service. That snow was meant to come to us up here in Canada - you know, where they had to import it for the winter olympics? I'm ever farther north and even I can't remember how long it's been since I've had to shovel anything!

@CatLady - I'm so glad you'll be in your recliner thinking of me. How sweet!

@Anything - Thanks. This will be my 3rd. It feels great to cross the finish line!

@Deb - Johnny Weir is hilarious. I have a couple of friends just like him. ;-)
I will NOT be wearing those costumes during the race but wait until you see my costume for the St. Patty's Day event!

@Nooter - My birthday suit.....just kidding. I'll be the one in running tights, a long-sleeved shirt, hat, and gloves. ;-)

@Kablooey - BBQ and beer after the race sounds good! I'm proud of you for being in you spin class on Saturday!

@tattytiaria -I'll be happy to send it to you!

You should move over here where you can enjoy more of the white stuff.

I didn't get the ice dancing outfits either. They were so weird. I didn't pay attention to the dancing. I kept thinking. What were they thinking? Happy trails on Saturday. Good luck. Word of advice. Don't wear fig leaves.

I've been to Texas three times in the last couple of months, and each time I expected sunshine and warmth. I was wrong. Not as wrong as those crazy outfits the skaters are wearing this year, but still wrong.

Good luck in the marathon, Reffie. I will send positive thoughts your way the night BEFORE you get up to run, as I'm not a morning person and never will be.

ReformingGeek said...

@Bee - There isn't enough room for both of us up there.

@Lauren - Thanks. That's right. No figs on Saturday. It's more likely to be a parka and a furry hat!

@Mike - Thanks for your positive thoughts. I'm sorry Texas has messed up weather this year. Yes, it is very wrong!

I'm waiting for a work environment to switch from "Hawaiian Shirt" Friday to "Figure Skating Outfit" Friday. It never happens...

Run Reffie Run. Good luck on Saturday. I'll be snoozing peacefully (I hope) but if I happen to wake up I'll do a cheer for you. We're supposed to get snow tonight. bummer!

so maybe if we all wrote letters to Mother Nature and Old Man Winter, they would change the forecasts? We are expecting another dumping on the east coast tonight. I'm sending my letters tonight!

ReformingGeek said...

@VE - That would be just "too" casual.

@Thank you! Sorry about the snow.

@AmyLK - Yes, please write!

I'm with hubby dear on the hot curlers. And the letter to Mother Earth is spot on. So much for global warming, hmm?

I can't believe it's already been a year since your last Cowtown run.

I hope the weather gods smile upon you this Saturday.

ReformingGeek said...

@Marvin - It's not warming down here right now but it is changing!

@Marissa - I can't believe it either. Thanks for the well wishes!

Gosh, these ridiculous pics make me sorry I missed it. Maybe I can catch it on one of the gazillion illegal video websites.

Stopping by from Quirky Loon's…

Don't know why I can't get the TMBG song "Cowtown" out of my head.

Tell me that the Russian ice dancer doesn't resemble Bonno from U2.

Thanks for sharing,

All this time I've been mesmerized by the Olympic Curling and totally missed the ice skating circus. Son of a gun, I'll have to expand my Olympic viewing. If I can just turn Curling off...........

ReformingGeek said...

@Nanny Goat - Yeah, I'm sure there will be plenty of videos available for hours of entertainment. ;-)

@Cajo - Thanks for stopping by. I don't know what that guy looks like except a freak. ;-)

@Sue - Please step away from the Curling. You can do it. Now breathe. Tune in tonight for the Ladies Skating Final!

Oh my, that is absolutely hilarious! The pictures that is ;)

As for your running the marathon again, good luck! I'd say "Break a leg" but somehow I don't think you really want that :D

Heff said...

Hmmm.. I find this blog....kinda cute !

ReformingGeek said...

@Skye - Yes, I prefer all my bones in working order!

@Heff - Why thank you!

Best of luck with the marathon, Geek Girl. I'm pulling for you!!!

What the heck is going on in this world?! Snow in Texas?! When, here in good old Ottawa, Canada, we've barely had any snow!!

Me-Me King said...

Just checking in to see how you did in the marathon.

Snow eh? It's been raining here for two weeks. Count yourself lucky, FrozenG...

A dusting of snow. LOL. Come on, Reforming Geek. Come to Cleveland where 25"+ is melting. LOL. Although, I heard it was snowing in Las Vegas yesterday. That seems crazy too.
