Summer Camp - Crafty Geek

I'm in summer camp this week, a special event organized by Humor Blogger's infamous thinkinfyou. I'm very excited. I've never been to camp....er.....unless band camp counts. I remember this time at band camp when I was rooming with my best friend and she kicked me out of the room during open house...

ReformingGeek!

Yes?

Get on with it. This post isn't about your experiences (or lack thereof) at band camp.

Oh.

So back to the camp thing. It's craft day. Today's counselor is Mizzdrake, the crapt finder. She reminds me of the Catholic nuns on TV. She swatted my fingers this morning after I got caught running with scissors during the first session. Then she made me take the leftover supplies, including last year's kitchen curtains and an ink-stained mop. I think I did pretty good with my project given the circumstances. Time ran out before I could finish her face!

I've heard of blue-hair old ladies, but ???

The next event was swimming and there are some really cute guys here so I didn't want to miss out.

Wait a minute. Why are you guys..... Nobody told me NOT to wear swimming attire. Sigh. I'm always the last one to know.

Um, hang on guys. Is that a crocodile or an alligator?

So much for the swimming.

Is there anything to eat around here?

That evil ReformingGeek, she didn't make that doll. I did. I'm ohsohappytogether.blogspot.com. The photo is on flickr.com, Creative Commons license (see sidebar).

I once worked with a guy that told me that I reminded him of a "girl from band camp" and I did not appreciate that reference.

I am going to have to check out that blog....is it as funny as Cake Wrecks?

ReformingGeek said...

@Chris - Um, yeah. ;-)

@Jacki - Some people are real charmers....

Yes, the crapt that she finds is hilarious!

I love it! It is nice that you made something that you can snuggle with when you fall asleep this week,and you totally gave me a new craft idea!

I love that doll! She's adorable! So what if she's missing an eye or two or a mouth or a nose.

Sounds like the zombies got to her! heh heh

Nooter said...

no, not zombies, more like the cat. thats what cats do when youre asleep, they lay on your face and smoosh it down flat.

Wow, you went all out, didn't you? Nice.

I thought Day 1 was more like wood shop myself so that's where I went, but I'm ready to go on to Day 2.

@Hit 40 - I'd love to see your nerd crafts!

@thinkinfyou - You can never have too many snuggle dolls!

@Quirky - Thank you. You are so kind. She is a bit thin or maybe the zombies have been nibbling.

@Nooter - My cat resembles that statement.

@unfinished - I was afraid I would hack off my arm in woodshop so I stuck to the needle and thread (stealing other people's work)!

Time ran out before you could finish on her face? Oh I read that wrong! LOL! I thought I was on a porn site! HAHAHA! I am so bad sometimes!!!

oh, I love her! Gosh, I wish I found her first! We could do some kind of a competition with her - a draw-on-the-best-face competition.

love it! Great find!

Include some very sharp pins and a few daggers and I'll be the first to pay you to make me one of those dolls.

ReformingGeek said...

@otin - I'm noticing a pattern with you....

@Julia - Thanks. She's got some style!

@Deb - Funny you should mention that as that is the type of doll I was looking for when I went crapt shopping!

I think I'm the only person on the planet that lack any kind of creativity whatsoever. Funny post as always, thank you for sharing.

Ooh, sounds like FUN! Lots of photos and reports, please. But the doll - well, at least it's not representing anyone hypocritical - can't be two faced with even one face to start with.

@Christa - Thanks! If I keep practicing maybe I'll eventually get better at doll-making.

@Marvin - Yeah. The swimming didn't go so well but making a faceless doll was quite amusing!

She is adorable...and I love the post.

How cute - its a feminist doll. No face so it can only be judged by it's internal bueaty. I think it's beautiful.

ReformingGeek said...

@JennyMac - Thanks. She has kind of grown on me.

@Waltsense - Clever. I don't know, though. That blue hair is asking for critique.

In honor of my upcoming sixtieth birthday I come here and
(1)see a doll with blue hair.....damn OLD doll.
(2) I've been unceremoniously thrown out of Humorbloggers due to my absence which was:
(3) Due to being schlepped from Indiana to Florida and having to relocated
(4) I am laying on the couch, covered in blankets, due to my pancreas hating me for turning old.
(5)if I survive.....I'll be back
(6) (Unless you're at camp in Australia, it's an alligator.)

Hey, that's an Amish doll! They don't put faces on their dolls either. I picked one up for daughter when I stopped in Intercourse, PA. One of my favorite places. Good luck with the alligator feeding...

ReformingGeek said...

@Dana - I think you need a strong one! Sorry you didn't like the blue-haired doll. ;-)

@VE - Hum.....I think I need to visit that city. I guess you won't be joining us for the swim!

Your dolls head is shaped like an alien. Just tell everyone it's an alien doll and has no need for a face where it comes from.

Everyone is so concerned with the dollie's face or lack thereof that they forgot to mention her lovely dress. I think it's pretty wonderful what you did with last year's kitchen curtains.

The only camp I went to was Art Camp. And like band or computer camps, yes, we were ALL pasty white and nerdy.

Maddy said...

I've never been to camp either......something to do with boarding schools and a different culture I think. However, my daughter returns from camp tomorrow.........maybe she can put me straight.
Cheers

ReformingGeek said...

@Sue - Great! My doll is from Mars!

@Chaotic - That's about all you can do with paisley.

@Maureen - Pasty white and nerdy describes me well when I was a teenager; until I worked at Six Flags during the summer.

@Maddy - Wow! I don't think I would have survived boarding school.

A little off topic, Guys... I have a question. Last week I found this site:
Rivalspot.com - Ps3 Live Tournaments
They say you can play online EA sports game tournaments on any console for cash... had anyone tried that before? Looks like a cool idea...
Are there any other sites where you can play sports games for real moneys? I Googled and found only Bringit.com and Worldgaming.com but it looks these guys don't specialize in sport gamez. Any suggestions?

Howdy guys! I have a underground tattoo supply business in Toronto. I used to buy all tattoo stuff at bulk prices but my supplier got jailed (believe it or not) so I'm trying to find a low cost tattoo supplies seller (better online one) to buy tattoo equipment from. Here is an example of what I am interested in: Tattoo Supplies. Thank you very much in advance for all tips dudes! PM me or write me at: triple6tattoo@hotmail.com
