This One Makes the Books!

I've never seen so much snow in Texas in my entire life.  Sure enough, the recent snow event in the D/FW area broke the record.  Officially at D/FW airport, 12.5 inches over 24 hours was placed in the record books.  Limbs are breaking off trees, awnings are collapsing, and power lines are playing "wiggle worm" and shooting fireworks.

I say "wiggle worm" because I'm thinking of the toy that we put on the end of the hose when we were kids and it squirted water as the hose jumped around.

Talented artists are attempting to make ice sculptures.   Since I'm not a talented artist, this is NOT a photo of my attempts at sculpture but it made me smile this morning so I couldn't resist posting it.  I will feel accomplished making an igloo for Cat.

Hubby is working from home and Cat has morphed into a possessed spazoid demon beast driving us crazy since he can't go outside.  Hum.....he COULD go outside but he would be buried by the snow.   That would make Hubby smile this morning.  Wait.  Where IS cat?

This geek is going nuts.  I have a half-marathon in two weeks and I'm struggling to get my runs done.  On a positive note, my legs feel very rested!

I'm about to change into ski clothes, find a shovel and start shoveling my driveway.

Enjoy these photos now part of our north Texas history:

Eerie night moves in our backyard.  My poor rose bush.

First thing this morning

WOW! Is this really Texas?

Our neighborhood runway is that tiny opening thru the trees.

Have a great weekend and Happy Valentine's Day to all my bloggy sweethearts!

Maybe they should move the winter 'lympics to your neck of the woods!

Yowzers!

And is that The Tin Man? From the Wiz of Oz? I've been humming that tune ALL morning.

I'm even driving myself BATTY with it. And lemme tell ya, that's a hard thing to do. hee hee hee

Stay warm! And if Cat needs some exercise? Just kick him around a little bit.

What?

I meant "gentle" kicks, of course.

(didn't I?)

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Stop stealing my snow!!!! It's been mid-40s since late December and supposed to be mid-50s next week. That TOTALLY does not work for a snowmobile family. :(

Beautiful though, isn't it!

ReformingGeek said...

@Quirky - Yeah, the Winter Olympics in Texas. That would work for today only!

@Marissa - Do you want me to bring you some snow?

@Meadowlark - You can have it. Send snowshoes.

Good Grief, Reffie! Looks like MY back yard! LOL, I got a brother lives in Dallas, did they get that much snow there too? He's been a Texan so long now he wears a sweater up here in Michigan on a summer evening when it dips below 60, tee hee.

Having been in Texas a fair amount lately and having heard Texans complain about an inch of snow, I can't imagine what 12.5 inches has done to that city. Everything must be shut down. Amazing, and how rare is that, anyway?

ReformingGeek said...

@Frozen Marv - Dallas was probably fairly close to the 12.5, depending on where you are. Yes, 60 at night in the summer is chilly. ;-)

@Brian - My igloo looks like a 4-year-old made it.

@Mike - Most schools are closed today and most city departments are closed also. Everything else will be touch and go. Yes, it's incredibly rare. The record was in 1901 or something like that.

I cannot believe all that snow!

Those pictures are great. Almost makes me think snow is beautiful again...almost (-:

12.5 inches?!? Wow, that's more than we got here in the northern part of Pennsylvania...no, really.

ReformingGeek said...

@Nooter - I would love to send it to them.

@MrsBlogAlot - Thanks. It was pretty......for awhile.

@unfinished - Yeah. Something's wrong with this picture!

Great. I can now see spots of grass through the snow on the lawn...IN FREAKIN' MAINE! It was so warm here today I went out with my coat unzipped and NO scarf.

All I want is one more whopper of a storm. OK, maybe two. Like Meadowlark, I think you keep taking our snow! Stop it!

I remember being in Dallas when you got a mere dusting of snow and people were freaking out and practically doing involuntary doughnuts in parking lots. No one could cope. Hope you enjoy it.

ReformingGeek said...

@Deb - But were you wearing a hat? You can have the snow. I'm packing it up now.

@Kablooey - It used to be rare.

This is the same state where it is 100 degrees every day for the entire summer? WTF?? lol

Me-Me King said...

Wow-wee!!! You brought the snow home with you from your ski trip. Don't you think a snowball fight might be in order?

Ay, ay, ay.

ReformingGeek said...

@otin - Yeah, we do have some summers like that.

@Me-Me - Splat!

Wow! That's wild. Great photos. I'm a couch potato and therefore regard the "runs" as something completely different, something more, let's say, effervescent.

Geez, no wonder the Texans are all in denial about global warming!

Your place is starting to look like it does here, only we have closer to 5 feet of snow as opposed to 1 foot.

As for Cat, you can't find him because you sent him here to scare away the moose and from here off to Maine to help out Deb. Hope he makes it home safely! :D

ReformingGeek said...

@Lauren - Thanks. LOL. Yeah, the two "runs" don't mix well....

@honeypie - I'm sure there are a lot of folks denying climate change this winter.

@Skye - Well....if you see Cat, please send him my way.

As soon as Cat spotted Luke, I heard "Nut Job can't be az zcary az diz dude, I'm outta here!"

Sorry my Dear, I haven't heard or seen Cat since! Hopefully he made it safely to Deb's place in Maine without too much trouble! At least he's traveling in winter, not too many birds of prey around here at the moment. Come April though the falcons, hawks, eagles and majority of owls will be back, not to mention turkey vultures and such!

ReformingGeek said...

@Dorothy - Thanks. I bet western NY is beautiful!

@Skye - Thanks for looking. My cat is heavy. I hope that deters the birds of prey!

Seriously, Reforming Geek, I was thinking about you when they kept saying on the news here how Texas was seeing snow.

LOL, you think you have it bad there, we we 19" in two days, then another few inches scattered over the next few days. And trust me, I know how it sucks to run in the snow. I hate it, but I can't stand long runs on the treadmill.

Hang in there. And send some of that good TX weather this way!
