Geek Surgeon Takes Flight

Spring is flying by down here in the once again windy state of Texas.  Mother Nature is emptying her powerful lungs across our metropolitan area.  (I wish she'd been a smoker...) Tree branches are falling causing power outages and my recently bloomed roses are raining their petals all over the weeds freshly manicured lawn.

Sheesh.   ENOUGH ALREADY!

In other news, Mom has no damage to her eye from her fall.  Yippee!  She is ready to consider her shoulder surgery.  Evil Twin and I have been practicing for the big day:

Scapel.

Oh sorry.

Anethesia.

Now we're good.

A friend of mine took me on one of her favorite running courses.  She's lucky I still call her "friend".  This course is all steep hills (Yes, we have hills in Texas) and I was sure I would need climbing gear to make it up the last hill.   I kept hoping the ice cream truck would show up and distract my friend or maybe I could ride in the back while she finished the course.

No such luck.  We only encountered a city employee knee deep in someone's muddy yard and a redneck with his barking dog in his pickup.  Twice.  We jumped out of our skin when the beast spoke to us. Twice.  We didn't learn.

Hubby installed baseboards in our upstairs hallway last weekend so the least I could do this week was get them painted.   I spackled and painted and painted and painted, working up quite a thirst. I asked Cat for a tall glass of cold tea but he brought me a pile of dirt and some dead bugs.

Speaking of Cat, he is currently stalking a silly cardinal that built her nest in a shrub about four feet off the ground.  I don't think the pathetic creature gets any rest. The bird; not the cat.

Now, where is that cat?  I need a pillow.

"I wish she were a smoker" haha. what does that mean? :)

You and cat need a vacation. NOT from blogging...from hard work.

Loved your game plan for mom's surgery. I bet it was Evil Twin's doing. We had an outage yesterday. We heard an explosion then the lights went out. Just my luck. It happened on one of those rare nights when my husband was cooking. I thought I saw him out in the front earlier with a loaded grenade.

"Yes, we have hills in Texas"

No, Reffie, no you don't ... sorry, my brother live in Texas, I been there many times, and no there are not any - what we up here in Michigan - would call 'hills'.

That being said, it's all relative, so enjoy your nap. ;)

I love Operation. It's fun to play it after a few drinks, just like a real surgeon.

@Quirky - Me neither. Hee hee.

@Laura - Thank you! I will visit soon.

@mama-face - Yes, a vacation sounds good.

@Yes, Evil Twin has some great ideas. Sorry about that outage. Boom!

@Marv - I'm pretty sure Michigan is flat. ;-)

@Marissa - Hiccup.

when you say you run do you really mean sitting in a lawn chair reading a magazine?

cuz, hey I run too.

It has been windy here lately. I hate wind!

I also hate when I am walking and someone's dog comes out to greet me. I fear strange dogs.

ReformingGeek said...

@Jean - Yes, of course. Thanks for outing me.

@Otin - Strange dogs are best viewed from far, far away! ;-)

Oh sorry, Cat is with me. I needed a pillow. Don't worry, though, Cat's been fed. We found a Great Tit outside that was just begging to be eaten.

Oh my gosh, I have a feind (oh, hee, hee friend) like that, too. She took me to a mountain for a nice little hike. "It's only a mile to the top," she said. She's right, one mile...STRAIGHT UP! Firemen train on this hill. It's really embarrassing to have buff guys pass you, half way up the hill, only to pass you (after they've made it to the top)on their way down and the only progress you've made was maybe in that time frame is approximately 45 yards. Did I mention I was beet red, sweating, and gasping for air?

Friends can be sadistic sometimes. Yet, we still love 'em. Congrats for making it through the hilly terrain and I hope Cat comes to sleep by your side, soon.

@Ziva - Thank you for feeding Kitty.

@Diane - Now THAT's not a friend. I've been on hikes like that. YIKES!

Oh, my goodness, you make me laugh! Curse that ice cream truck driver!! Why aren't they ever around when you really need them?

I will keep that poor little cardinal mommy in my prayers this evening!!

I once referred to Mother Nature as that ignorant slut in a post. She's too busy reining terror down upon us to read blogs so have at her.

I HATED the buzzer on the Operation game. Oh my god; was that too much tension for me. (It really shouldn't come as a surprise that I shy away from stressful situations when I think about the fact that I was too unnerved by a tinny buzzer to play a kids' game.

Sorry about the wind, Reffie. I sent it down your way. Now we're getting rained on. Cat should help out more around the house and bring you water. But being a cat, I suppose that would be above his station.
Glad your mom's eye is okay and I'm wishing her the best on her surgery. Keep us updated on her progress.
LOL at the Operation game.

ReformingGeek said...

@Uber - Thanks. I was not very good at that game. I guess I will need to practice more before the surgery.

@Anything - Thanks. I dream for ice cream. ;-) I hope that silly bird doesn't have a heart attack.

@Kablooey - Yeah, that dreaded buzzer was quite a nuisance. Now, let's take a deep breath.

@Leeuna - Thanks. Yeah, that silly cat expects us to serve him. Sheesh!

The good thing about running up the so-called "hills" you have in Texas is being able to roll down the other side.

Hills. In Texas. Pffft!

AHAHAHHAHAHHAHAH!!

I could NEVER make it up any steep hills like that. I AM A SMOKER!

ReformingGeek said...

@Georgie - Oh Georgie Girl, up your nose? YIKES!

@Deb - I'm getting a photo to prove it!

@meleah - LOL! I want a rope tow.

Wouldn't it be great to have a vodoo operation game? You know where you can just pull organs out of people at will...too much sun ya think?

So much for the great follower thing, huh? LOL.
Thanks for the wonderful remarks, my friend.
Things have been nuts around here but hopefully, I will be back in sync soon! Good luck with Mom's surgery & your lovely manicured lawn! (((HUGS)))

@Mrsblogalot - You are on to something.

@Collette - Thanks! I'm glad you're back. I've missed your cute little horns.

You said more about more in about 100 words than most bloggers say in 1,000. How did you do that, anyway? I am humbled.....

I think I'd hire a new cat if I were you. :)

@Mike - I've spent too many years as a Systems Analyst but I can still ramble....

@Margaret - The problem is that they don't show up for the interviews.

We have been getting wind too! Goodness, it's so sad when the blossoms only last a few days before being blown apart. And Operation is the game that convinced me that I could never be a doctor. :)

"I want a rope tow."

You're cracking me up!

ReformingGeek said...

@Lindzena - Wind surrounded by mountains. YIKES!

@meleah - Snort!

Hey, love your writing style and very cool blog. I'm amazed at hills in Texas.

Skye said...

Silv took me on a walk like that once, right here in his yard. It was great to start, real easy walking downhill, but coming back, oh my! The first few times it was real difficult, now I do it whenever the weather permits and I have the time :D

Ivy said...

I wish mother nature was a smoker too. She blew her ugly head here knocked down six trees, sent our mailbox flying in the middle of the road and spread the trash the dog had just gotten in across our yard. Oh but don't worry the little election sign for magistrate still stood. I told the candidate either God was telling her she was going to win or she put that sign in my yard with concrete. If it's the latter... there could be problems. :)

Don't let evil twin get too close to you with those tweezers from Operation. Still praying for your mom. Keep us updated!

ReformingGeek said...

@Cheeseboy - Thank you. Don't be amazed. Come visit some of our hills!

@Skye - That sounds wonderful, Skye. I wish I were there!

@Ivy - YIKES! That's some serious wind. Evil Twin is getting good with those tweezers. I let her pluck my eyebrow this morning. ;-) Thanks for your well wishes for Mom.
