Cattle, Piglets, and Dead Beasts

It's Friday. What to do this weekend?

Well...The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo continues to attract goat-ropers, rednecks, and non-vegetarians for a couple more weeks. Also known as "The Fat Stock Show", it's not only a great place for meat-lovers to see huge animals that will eventually make great steaks but it almost always brings us a round of nasty weather.

Afterall, it IS January.

This year we have avoided the snow and/or ice but it's been raining way too much and my yard again resembles a lake. Please don't bring your personal water craft and attempt to entertain your inebriated self on my lawn this weekend.

Maybe I will pass on looking at well-fed warm smelly animals and queuing for freezing carnival rides. I will be way too busy doing my usual weekend activities of washing my hair, letting cat in and out, and doing Cat's laundry. I will need to take several rest breaks, of course, wrapped up in a blanket on the couch, watching the grass turn brown, or watching Matt Damon do something Bourne for the 100th time.

In other news this week...

I regret to inform you that my trusty Mac Powerbook purrs no more. It seems to have developed an allergy to power and is no longer able to receive and process any of this required elixir. It's been a good lap beast and I will miss its cool grey ambiance. I'm thinking of having it stuffed and mounted.

Dark is the new light.
RIP Grey Lap Beast.

Sigh.

Fortunately, we have an old boat anchor Dell that I'm using until Cat pays us his rent for the month.

Stay warm and dry out there and have a great weekend!

And is it possible to get inebriated from DDP? If so? I'm peppered punch drunk.

Right now!

AND... what's up with the commenter widgie? I COMMENT EVERY SINGLE TIME, cuz I lurve my BBFF and my NAME IS NOT EVEN ON THERE!

Did you ban me?

Will give DDP for reinstatement on commenter widgie. *smile*

@Georgie - Yea! Yeehaw! I won something!!!! Stay warm up there.

@Quirky - You are always high on DDP. Be careful on that jet ski, OK?

As for commenter counter, it counts from last 100 comments. It might go the way of grey lap beast until I find something better.

"Erm, whad'dya say thar, Reffie? Me has a little trouble readin' wit the dark background," said The Old Silly as he pushed his wrinkled nose up to the monitor.

LOL, I DO find the background a little harder to read, but I made 'er out ok. Don't know what's funnier - your usual cutup style of post here, or the comments from your band of comedic readers so far!

Staying indoors sounds like a plan. Besides, it's only 18 here with a windchill of about 2 degrees...lol.
And I think we deal with enough bull as it is & don't have to go to a rodeo for it...lol

Sorry for your loss. I have a Mac, too, and am passionately in love with it. I can't imagine losing such a wonderful soul mate like my MacBook. Dell will be good company in your time of need until you find your next true Mac soul mate.

Will there be a wake or are you donating the parts to science?

Btw, it's friggin cold here on the east coast. The ground, trees, and roads all look like a frosted mug of beer.

It sucks when you lose a friend! Cheer up, watch some TV and have a steak!!! lol

ReformingGeek said...

@honeypie - Thanks. I appreciate the kind words.

@Nooter - The cat DID NOT pee on the Apple. Maybe he hacked a hairball on it or something.

@Marvin - Thanks. I've been fighting Blogger all day. Something has changed and blogger is no longer recognizing my post block configurations. I have replace the content background with a lighter color until I can figure out what is wrong. DANG!

@Collete - BRRRRRR! Yes, I think I'll stay in.

@Lauren - Thanks. After salvaging the hard drive, I might plant it in the yard and see if it will grow a new one. ;-)

@otin - Thanks. Ummm, steak!

RIP Mac Powerbook. My computer is purring louder than usual. Do they purr loud before they bit the dust? We may need to have a double burial.

11 degrees here, please find someone to do my grocery shopping for me tomorrow.
Here's my list:

Vodka
orange juice

that should do it.

NOOOOOOOO! Not the lap beast!

My condolences.

Jeff said...

What do the Mac proselytizers say when a Mac dies? "Get a Mac!"

ReformingGeek said...

@Sue - Thanks. I hope the loud purring is not a sign of illness.

I'll send Cat to shop for you.

@CatLady - Thanks. I will miss her warmth.

@Jeff - ;-)

Wait a minute? i thought Macs never die. How long was she with you? I've been tempting to get one but all my web software is PC.

Crikey. My wife went to the Whitchurch potato festival this weekend. (No, really.) Sounds kind of similar, but vegetarian.

Did you try dropping the laptop from a great height? I tried that with an iPod once and it worked. For a while

Deb said...

RIP, Gray Lap Beast. My sympathies to you, dear RG. Now kick that cat in the butt and tell him to start working some OT so mamma can get a shiny new Mac!

ReformingGeek said...

@Waltsense - Yeah, that's what I thought but apparently laptops just don't last.

@Uber - Huh. Potato Festival. Interesting. ;-)

I have tried that. ;-)

@Deb - Yeah. Cat really needs to step up around here.
