30 Days of Photographs IV - China

Forever ago when I worked in the IT industry,  one of the programmers in my group was from China.  She was a sweetheart and gave me this scroll as a gift when she left the company.  It's a Chinese love poem:

Wait.  Where's the panda?

Evil Twin is smirking and suggested that it isn't a love poem but actually says "May you drown in your own piss, you bee-otch!"

Oh dear.  Sniff.  I thought she liked me.

Evil Twin apologized and then suggested that this "Asian" scroll was probably made in Mexico.

Sigh.

Visit Ziva for more China.  Maybe you will see a panda or two.

"May you drown in your own piss, you bee-otch!" Yeah, that's definitely what it says! (Whenever I see someone with a Chinese character tattoo, I wonder if they know what it really says.)

I think that was drawn by that great Chinese artist Hu Hung Dung.

Most of the time the Chinese writing says something like
"Wang's dry cleaning. One hour service".

@Paula - Probably. :)

@noname - No, I think it was the Vietnamese artist Pho King Dong.

@Babs - She has no filter!

@Timothy - That's about right.

LOL at Evil Twin! That's a lovely scroll, whatever it says.

I'm not sure if I've said this before or not, but I'm really glad to see you participating this time, Reffie. :)

Ignore Evil Twin. I am sure that is a tale of a love as old as time.

I see the Lion, but no Panda.

Rorschach + Chinese Ink = Dragon? Honourable projection?

Pay no attention to the miserable Evil Twin. The more attention you pay, the more you will be punished! By Evil Twin.

Blessings and Bear hugs!

@Ziva - Thanks! I appreciated the gift. I'm having fun with this photo event. Thanks for hosting!

@Traci - Yeah, she's a funny old soul.

@Rob - Good to see you here! Panda bear hugs to you, too.

These Chinese scrolls all look the same to me, and I don't have a clue what any of them say!

All I can say is that it's very ... Chinese!

Oh, you can throw that away now. That is not a scroll. That is a 2008 give away calendar from the Hung Far Low Chinese restaurant.

I think it's sweet that your co-worker gave you a love poem.

ReformingGeek said...

@Jay - They do seem to resemble each other.

@Unknown - Haha! I have one of those, too.

@meleah - It just might be. Thanks!

@MikeWJ - Thanks. It was very sweet of her.

I thought it said, "Drown in your own piss." I got the memo from Evil Twin.

That's why I have this rule: never get a tattoo in a language that you don't understand.

Great scroll :)

@Katherine - Thanks! Hee Hee.

@Lauren - Shame on her!

@mike - No kidding and thanks!

"Evil Twin apologized and then suggested that this "Asian" scroll was probably made in Mexico." That's probably true. Global economy indeed.

"1.00s, 1.50s, 1.75s for the short arms. If you know what I'm talking about, you're probably old, too."

"Boomer brain fog: What was the last, middle, and first part of what you just said to me?"
