Evil Twin tried to get me up early this morning so we could post our mushroom photo. I wasn't so inclined. She found this "treasure" in my display cabinet. I can't remember where I got this thing but I think I was a child at the time, and, apparently, already showing signs of all-things-geek.
Um.....it's shaped like a mushroom!
Here's the top:
Click on that ugly face and see it in all its glory.
I'm thinking Aztec symbols. As for the mushroom shape, coincidence?
Sigh.
Stop laughing Evil Twin.
You want more? Seriously?
Ok-dokey.
Mushroom madness.

THAT is just plain bizarre!
An Aztec mushroom eh? Okay.
I love that! It's so damn bizarre looking that it's weirdly beautiful.
Yeah, that's the Aztec god/ruler Quetzalcoatl, who famously loved stuffed mushrooms.
That's mushrooms stuffed with the entrails of his enemies.
Quetzalcoatl wasn't the friendliest guy in the Aztec kingdom.
Do you think I'd get three wishes if I rubbed it?
Trust evil twin to pick this one. I do think it has a dark look about it.
a mushroom with a face? whatever next??
I tried to shoot a pewter mushroom with a frog on it's top for today but I just couldn't get it quite right. It's a leftover from my teen years. As for yours, I love it!
@Tami - I'm surprised I've kept it this long.
@Noname - It LOOKS like a mushroom!
@Lauren - Thanks. It must amuse me somewhat since I've kept it this long.
@MikeWJ -Ugh, not very appetizing.
@Ziva - Nope. I've rubbed it quite a bit and Evil Twin is still here.
@Babs - It's really more cute than dark. I think my photo made it look too creepy.
@Janine - Wait. I see JESUS in that mushroom. :)
@Cheryl - Thanks. Getting the photo of the top was a pain and it still came out blurry. Oh well. I can imagine pewter would be a challenge.
Very cool!
That's nice. That would be a treasure to me.
Ok, I hate mushrooms but that one's kinda creepy.
*backs away from computer screen*
I'm pretty sure that that is the Aztec God of Mushrooms. The Aztecs had a yearly ritual of slaughtering mushrooms at his feet (stem) each year. Then they would burn them at the stake. Thus the birth of grilled mushrooms. I think you have an important artifact from history there.
@Nora - Thanks.
@Timothy - Make me an offer. Kidding. :)
@Nicky - It doesn't look so bad. The photo isn't very good.
@Malisa - Absolutely. Those poor mushrooms......but they sure are tasty.
That is really cool! I especially like the top shot - how neat you had this at home!
Wow! Aztec mushrooms? Very cool!
:-)
Traci
That's just really cool. I love the designs and I feel like I know exactly how weighty it would feel in my hand.
that is totally-super-cool AND bizarre!
Okay, Reffie... that's just scary! Definitely something Evil Twin brought home!
