30 Days of Photogrpahs IV - Circle

I had several ideas for the circle prompt but as I stopped to look at my figurine collection a few days ago, ignoring the dust (Achoo!), I noticed a little cutie playing with a crystal ball.  I couldn't resist.

I'll admit photographing a shiny gold thing with a crystal proved to be beyond my novice photography skills.  I'm reasonably happy with this first photo as you can actually tell that it's a cat.
The second photo may have a bit more color in the crystal but also offers another circle, the backside of my wedding ring.  My ring was another idea for today.

Shiny kitty with round shiny thing!

This is a handy play area!

What a sweet kitty this is, so quiet, and never gets under foot.

Now go see what's spinning over at Ziva's merry-go-round today.

Such a sweet little kitty :)

'Shiny' is tough to photograph unless you WANT it to be shiny, then it's not. You did a great job with both photos. The orb looks like crystal with its rainbow colors.

Reflective things can be horrible to photograph. The only sure way is to do it in a light box. I made one for photographing jewellery from a large cardboard box, some baking parchment and a LOT of duct tape!

Your little kitten didn't turn out too badly, though!

But what do you see in the crystal ball??

And you don't have to feed it! Lovely piece. Photograph it at night using the flashlight technique. Shine the light at the object.

@Katherine - Thanks. It is really cute.

@Babs - Yes, it is!

@Cheryl - Thanks. Yes, it is a crystal. I'm glad the colors showed a bit.

@Jay - Thanks. Yeah, Hubby may have a light box somewhere.

@mike - I see the end of the photo challenge!

@Lauren - Thanks! Yes, unlike the real cat that is ALWAYS hungry!

Those are amazing pieces of jewelry. You must pay exorbitant insurance premiums.

what a beautiful figurine! And yes, it's very difficult to take photos of shiny objects!

PS: I’m so sorry I’m so late to comment – I missed the last 2 days of the challenge because I’ve been having a terrible flare up. But I am trying my best to catch up with all of the posts I’ve missed!
